Stacy & I both ride Fusos built by Dave Moulton in California in 1989. Although they were designed and built as racing bikes, we find that they make excellent long-distance bikes, especially when fitted with 28mm tires. Our Dave Moulton Fusos are lively and responsive, a real joy on every ride.
Since on long distance rides reliability is paramount, we keep things simple with an 8 speed drivetrain and downtube shifters.
Below is a photo of the bikes take at Paris-Brest-Paris 2015 that shows them in touring/randonneuring configuration with Emily O’Brien’s “Dill Pickle” handlebar bags on the front. These bags were designed by a randonneur for long distance riding and they are superb.
On the rear Stacy has a Carradice Barley bag, the same bag she uses for touring.
I am using an Acorn Medium Saddlebag which I leave on my bike almost all the time since it is so useful. I replace it with a Carradice Barley like Stacy’s for touring.
Our bikes have SON Edelux II lights powered by SONdelux dynohubs and Mavic Open Pro rims.
